From last few days, WhatsApp was working on a new security feature called as Biometric Authentication. This feature will allow the user to lock the app via Face ID and Touch ID. By enabling this feature, users’ private WhatsApp messages will be secured through Face ID and Touch ID. This new feature is available on the WhatsApp 2.19.20 version. As of now, it’s exclusive iOS feature only for iPhone iOS Users.
iOS users will have to update their app to 2.19.20 version. You can check the WhatsApp version in Setting – Help Section. If you are already on the mentioned version, then go to the settings and go to the account. Now turn on the privacy lock. IPhone X or above models will have FaceID security. Older iPhones will get the TouchID or passcode option. However, users will be able to reply to the message from the lock screen notification just like before. Although, you don’t need any authentication to answer WhatsApp calls.
This feature was first spotted by WeBetaInfo, who tracks WhatsApp Beta updates. According to the news, this feature will be given a stable rollout soon. As of now, we don’t know when Android users will get this feature. In the upcoming days, WhatsApp will introduce Dark Mode and WhatsApp Pay.
