Hey guys sometimes you using internet and you feels like sometimes you can’t understand what other people are talking about? Some times the Internet jargons can be tough to understand and sometimes all you need is a simple explanation to get your head around the concepts.
WAN or Wide Area Network is also a computer network that extends over a large geographical distance like cities, states and countries.
Every device like a computer, mobile that connects to the internet uses an address called ‘Internet Protocol’ for identification. This address is assigned for the sake of tracking purpose.
IPv4 and IPv6
IPv4 stands for Internet Protocol version 4, whereas, the IPv6 is the sixth revision and successor to IPv4. The size of an address in IPv4 is 32-bits, where IPv6 address fields are 128-bits.
The router is a device that acts as the traffic cop for signals arriving at your home from your ISP. This device prevents our system against hackers and directs content to the specific computer, device, streaming device and more.
VPN a.k.a Virtual Private Network helps the user in connecting separate LANs through the Internet maintaining privacy simultaneously. It is used to connect remote systems as if they were on a local network for security reasons.
HTTP and HTTPS
HTTP is the short form of ‘Hypertext Transfer Protocol,” the data communication standard of web pages. On the other hand, HTTPS or ‘Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure’ is a webpage with a special layer of encryption added to prevent your personal information and passwords from anonymous users.
Uniform Resource Locate or URL is the web browser addresses of internet pages and files.
ISP also known as Internet Service Provider helps you to get the Internet for you. Generally, ISP is the organization that gives you the internet connection for a monthly fee.
LAN or Local Area Network is a computer network that interconnects computers within a limited area such as a residence, school and manages locally.
NAT also known as Network Address Translation is a way to translate requests that are incoming into a routing server to the relevant devices.
E-commerce is electronic commerce—the transaction of business selling and buying online. Every day, billions of dollars exchange hands through the internet and World Wide Web.
Firewall is a generic term to describe a barrier against destruction. In the case of computing, a firewall consists of software or hardware that protects your computer from hackers and viruses.
Malware is the broad term to describe any malicious software designed by hackers. Malware includes viruses, trojans, keyloggers, zombie programs and any other software that seeks to do one of four things:
- Vandalize your computer in some way
- Steal your private information
- Take remote control of your computer (zombie your computer) for other ends
- Manipulate you into purchasing something
Malware programs are the time bombs and wicked minions of dishonest programmers. Protect yourself with a firewall and knowledge of how to prevent these programs from reaching your computer.
