The prospect of war between two countries India and Pakistan is the stuff of nightmares.
Since British quit the subcontinent in 1947, the South Asian rivals have come back to blows four times already, three times over the Himalayan(chain of mountains) region of Jammu and Kashmir alone. Claimed in its entirely by both New Delhi(India’s capital) and Islamabad(Pakistan capital), Jammu and Kashmir is one of the world’s most beautiful areas and also one of its most militarized, divided between both nations by a de facto border called Line of Control (LoC). With both countries currently in possession of nuclear weapons, many fear, another war, risks tipping into a probabely apocalyptic confrontation.
India conducted surgical strikes last night along the LoC to safeguard our nation India, the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.
“Significant casualties have been caused to terrorists and those trying to protect them.
We don’t have a plan for further conduct such strikes. India spoke to Pakistan,” DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh said.
PM Narendra Modi had informed former Prime Minister Mahmohan Singh ,President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President on the surgical strikes. Jammu and Kashmir Governor and CM Mehbooba Mufti informed about the surgical strike.
Home Minister Rajnath Singh has informed Chief Ministers of Odisha, Punjab or West Bengal CPI-M’s Sitaram Yechury and Congress’ Ghulam Nabi Azad about surgical strikes.
Nuclear war would bring unimaginable destruction
