Adding to its range of budget smartphones, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi recently launched the Redmi Go, at Rs. 4,499 in India. The budget device will go on sale from 22 March via Flipkart and Mi India e-store and Redmi stores across the length and breadth of the country. Redmi Go is Mi’s first device to boast Android Go operating system.
Android Go operating system (OS) by Google is specially designed to operate with a low-configuration smartphone. It is an optimized version of the latest Android Oreo OS which is specially designed for low-configuration smartphones. The OS is designed to run light versions of several apps.
On the hardware end, Redmi Go is no more than a traditional touch screen devices with prominent bezels with a single 8MP rear camera at the back. It offers 5-inch HD (720 x 1280 pixels) touchscreen display with a 16:9 aspect ratio. As far as the front camera goes, it sports a 5MP (f/2.2) camera.
The device powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor runs on android Oreo and has1GB RAM and 8GB of internal memory expandable up to 128GB. The 3,000 mAh battery seems enough to keep it going for a day without needing a charge.
In terms of connectivity options, the Redmi Go supports dual-SIMs with 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Hotspot. It doesn’t have a basic finger printer scanner but has an accelerometer, proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. The smartphone also homes micro-USB port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The interested can buy the Redmi Go at a price of Rs. 4,499 via Mi India e-store, Flipkart and Mi home stores from March 22. The device is available in two color variants that are black and blue.
